Masquepen

Played around with my masquepens. I bought these a while back but never got around to using them. I find them very useful. The fine nibs allow you to create fine lines and dots that would have been quite hard with a brush.

They do take a bit of getting used to though. I made quite a mess before finally getting the hang of it. Here's a tip for first time users. Drive the wire through the nib repeatedly until it goes through smoothly to make sure that nothing is obstructing the nib. Oh and try it with some scrap paper first. It tends to get messy in the beginning :)

Triangle Pastels

Triangles in soft pastels.

Good color combos are key to a seamless pattern. You don't just pick out a bunch of swatches and throw them in (the way I did initially). It took me the longest time to recolor everything. Each color has to compliment with the ones around it so that they don't compete with each other.

Geometric Pattern

I passed by a store poster at the mall that had multi-colored triangles as a border. It looked really cute and a lot of fun, so I thought I'd make a pattern that looked something like it. I played around with shapes -- mostly triangles (I love triangles!), and I used multiply to get more variety with the colors. What do you think? :)

More Patterns!

And more patterns!

This I made with a bird painting of mine. Just a little experiment.

And shoes! Who doesn't like shoes? :)

Patterns

Patterns!!! These are addictive! I love making them. They're easy to make, and you get dramatic results!
